Gratitude and showing gratitude for our body is mentioned often when in body image work. I have recently come across a few studies regarding gratitude:
Emmons RA, McCullough ME. Counting blessings versus burdens: an experimental investigation of gratitude and subjective well-being in daily life. J Pers Soc Psychol. 2003 Feb;84(2):377-89.

Take away: focus on blessings may have an emotional and interpersonal benefit, especially towards a positive mood.
